WEDNESDAY
List of items
A list of items refers to a series of details, such as reasons or examples, that support a point. The items have no time order, so they are listed in the order the authors prefers. The author uses transitions words (like the ones in the previous chart) to tell us that another supporting detail is being added to the one or ones already mentioned.

Activity 3 (A list of items paragraph)
The paragraph below provides a list of items. Read it and then answer the questions that follow.
Several factors about the environment influence our behavior. First of all, temperature can influence us greatly. We seem to feel best when the temperature is in the seventies. If it is tool hot or too cold, we have trouble concentrating. Have you ever tried to concentrate in a class when it was very hot? Also, lighting can influence how we function. Studies have found that student test scores improve for children who learn in the presence of greater natural light. Also, too much lighting can cause headaches and stress. Finally, our behavior is affected by color. Some colors make us feel peaceful, while others stimulate us. If you wanted a quiet room in which to study, for example, you would not paint it bright orange or red.
